INSOFE Fellowship Competition(IFC)

For people who don’t know about INSOFE fellowship competition(IFC) I recommend you to know about INSOFE here.

In this post I will be discussing about the pattern of the fellowship test and how you can prepare for it.

The total process will be scheduled in two rounds.

First round: It is a 4 hour exam in which they test Maths,Statistics,basic programming knowledge for 2 hours and then followed by testing the individual’s programming skills for 2 hours.

You will be given a compiler to compile the programme.

A total of 19 questions were given in the two hour exam.

There were around 12 to 14 questions from math and statistics. The level of questions in math and statistics was from basic to medium.I suggest you to brush up all your engineering math (Linear algebra,probability,calculus) and statistics concepts before attending the exam.

The remaining questions are on testing your programming knowledge on c-language,big-o-notations,SQL.

The level of programming question was from medium to difficult.In my case they asked to compile a problem similar to 8-queens.I suggest you to go through intermediate level problems at codechef.

Second round:

After first round around 10-15 people will be shortlisted for second round.

Second round will consist of a GD and interview.

GD will be just like a normal GD on current affairs,social issues.In my case the topic was “Should A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’s image be on Indian currency note”.Remember GD is not a elimination round.

In the interview they just asked us only one question “Tell me about yourself”.

NOTE: But be prepared for programming,math,SQL related questions also.

Please be cautious about this question as it may change the fate of the people who will be getting internship finally.Don’t be under the impression that if you compile the code,you will be getting the internship.Each part of the process carries marks,so be confident while answering the question and speak about your failures and success in your life till now and how did  you overcome your failures,what are your career goals? showing large amount of confidence and energy.
